1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

We collect different information depending on which protections you use:

• Account and contact details — such as an email address you enter for Identity Monitoring or when you contact support.
• Device and diagnostic data — such as operating system version, battery status, app version and general performance signals used by Device Security and Battery Health.
• Protection activity — records of what a feature blocked or flagged (for example, a blocked ad or a warned website), used to show your status and improve detection.
• Support messages — the content of messages you send us, so we can help you.

Where a feature checks something on your device — such as filtering messages or blocking web content — that processing happens to protect you, and we collect only what is needed to provide the protection.

3. How we use your information

• To provide and operate the protections you turn on.
• To alert you when something needs your attention, such as a detected leak or a weak setting.
• To maintain, secure and improve the app, including detection quality.
• To respond to your questions and support requests.
• To meet legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Identity Monitoring

When you add an email address to Identity Monitoring, we check it against known third-party data breaches. We use the address to perform and repeat that check and to notify you of results. You can remove a monitored address at any time from within the app.

5. What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
• We do not read the personal content of your messages for any purpose other than the filtering you enabled.

6. Sharing your information

We share information only in limited cases: with service providers who help us run the app under confidentiality obligations; to comply with the law or a valid legal request; or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the app. Any such providers may process data only on our instructions.

7. Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business or legal reasons. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous. You can ask us to delete your data as described below.

8. Security

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but security is the core of what we do and we work continuously to protect your data.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at general@protero-safety.com. You can also manage most data directly in the app by turning protections on or off or removing monitored details.

10. Children

Protero is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
